A big day for birds!

Today was finally the day! After months of planning and a few weeks warm and cozy in the brooder, this years' first batch of broiler chickens are on pasture. It was wonderful to watch them scratch and forage within moments of having grass under their feet. To make the transition more comfortable for them we decided to keep them in two tractors for the next few days. They will have lots of "brooder-mates" near-by while they get used to their new surroundings. As they grow they will be spread out among four tractors; giving them lots of room to spread their wings!
